Friday, March 7, 2008. Who is accountable for your childs education when they have special needs? Over twenty years ago I watched my mother hold the school accountable for my brothers education. He has Down Syndrome and was not learning to his potential. After completing both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Special Education I was under the impression the school system had changed and I would be able to teach my students to reach their potential.

I grew up in the agricultural flat lands of the central San Joaquin Valley in California. John Muir called it the Great Valley. Now I live at the boundary between the prairie and the mountains, in Boulder, Colorado. Studying Mars and the icy moons of Jupiter and Saturn gave me a much deeper appreciation of our precious our world is, and how dangerous our perturbations of it are.
